Data Product Manager

Community Tech Alliance is looking for a Data Product manager to work cross-functionally with team members of CTA's product, engineering, and partnerships teams to lead, coordinate, and oversee data solutions and data products for partners.  


Tasked with understanding the data needs of the progressive ecosystem, this role will serve as an internal subject matter expert on partners’ data needs related to voter files, voter contact, volunteer management, and other organizing activities. This role will serve as CTA’s lead on all things data: how to structure table materializations, designing QC processes, formatting rollup tables, and generally optimizing CTA’s environment to serve analysts. This role will drive user requirements gathering, in coordination with the Partnerships team, craft user stories and tickets for implementation, collaborate with the engineering team to oversee development, and assist with the design of documentation, communications, and trainings on use of CTA’s data products.

Job requirements

As the Data Product Manager, you should have:

  • Excellent SQL skills, ideally using Google BigQuery, running both ad hoc and scheduled queries
  • Deep experience with data analytics—using spreadsheets, SQL, dashboards, and other reporting to derive insights and drive program goals
  • Experience with data pipelines, cloud platforms, APIs, ETL tools, and related products
  • Deep experience with political data and tooling, voter contact data, movement tech
  • Demonstrated experience in project and stakeholder management, with a proven track record of managing successful programs, projects, or products through their lifecycle
  • Skills working effectively with cross-functional teams, partnering with business, product, and technical teams to deliver solutions that meet organizational or client needs
  • The ability to work with, clarify, and find creative solutions for ambiguous and sometimes challenging requests from stakeholders
  • Strong communication, writing, presentation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Act autonomously, thrive in a strong team environment, be excited to work in a fully remote role

It would be nice to have:

  • Experience with project management software - Jira, Asana, Monday, etc

  • Experience working with software engineers to build new pipelines and integrations using cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services

  • Experience in product management or user research, especially political- or data-related

  • Experience training and supporting users or experience creating training materials

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience in a range starting at $100-150,000 annually.
